In November 2017, Hannibal Central School District voters approved a $42 million capital project with zero impact on taxpayers. Through careful fiscal planning, the district was able to propose the project without increasing the tax levy. State aid will pay for 98 percent of the cost, and money set aside in the district’s capital reserve fund will cover the balance.

The project is currently approaching phase 3, which includes work at Fairley Elementary and Dennis M. Kenney Middle School. Please visit this page throughout the project for updates as progress continues.

Project Scope

    • New Bus Maintenance Facility

    • Resurface and add two straight lanes to create a 6x8 track
    • Upgrades to baseball/softball field drainage, install new dugouts and backstops, add scoreboards and
      safety fence

    • Replace roof, boiler and ceiling
    • Restore masonry
    • Replace broken fire hydrant
    • Upgrade electrical panel and branch circuiting
    • Replace domestic hot water heater, add shutoff valves
    • Replace PTAC units
    • Replace exterior doors at loading/receiving area, expand access control
    • Replace double hung windows
    • Replace exterior walk-in freezer
    • Replace remaining laminate counters
    • Create counseling suite
    • Upgrade gym public address system
    • Renovate FES Music Room, Nurses Office, and Cafeteria/Kitchen 

    • Replace roof, boiler and ceiling
    • Reconstruct sidewalks at gym entrance
    • Update select classroom flooring
    • Replace doors between cafeteria and gym, add vision glass; replace cafeteria partition with curtain
    • Replace PTAC units and domestic hot water heater, add shutoff valves
    • Replace public address system
    • Replace remaining laminate counters
    • Upgrade lighting
    • Renovate DMK Art Room, Cafeteria Floor, Nurses Office

    • Renovate classrooms (science, technology and art rooms)
    • Replace roof, boiler and ceiling
    • Restore masonry and sidewalks
    • Add floor drains in boiler room and toilet rooms, replace grease trap in kitchen
    • Improve ventilation to interior spaces
    • Upgrade electrical panel and replace branch circuitry in technology room, gymnasium area
    • Reconstruct gym parking lot, update duct work and renovate lobby
    • Reconstruct kitchen and serving lines
    • Replace stair treads and landings
    • Upgrade lighting for energy efficiency
    • Upgrade elevator
    • Replace/add shut off valves, replace select piping
