DMK Students Explore Environmental Science During Field Trip

Dennis M. Kenney Middle School students in Dr. Christine Lamont’s class recently took their learning outdoors during a hands-on educational visit to Rice Creek Field Station.
The visit gave students the opportunity to explore environmental science concepts through a series of interactive learning stations designed to connect classroom instruction with real-world experiences.
Students rotated through stations focused on water chemistry, plant assessment, biology and more, as they investigated different aspects of the ecosystem and gained firsthand experience with scientific observation and assessment techniques.
“Experiences like this allow students to see science in action,” said Dr. Lamont. “Being able to explore, observe and ask questions in a natural environment makes the learning meaningful and gives students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in class.”
The visit to Rice Creek Field Station was part of the district’s ongoing efforts to provide students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom.
