Fairley students show off Inventive Minds

Fairley students recently displayed their creativity as they became inventors and pitched their products to a panel of judges during the annual Inventive Minds competition.

Third and fourth grade participants were tasked with identifying an everyday problem then creating an invention that would solve the problem. Hannibal students showcased their ideas first at the district level before some advanced to the regional competition featuring student inventors from Lyons and Red Creek as well.

“Each year we are so impressed with our students and their creative inventions,” said club co-advisor and teacher Bethany Simmons. “This year was no different, as our students once again amazed us with their innovative ideas. They all did a wonderful job!”

Students highlighted their inventions in a tri-fold presentation board, then verbally pitched their product to judges from each participating school. The judges awarded points based on a set of criteria. After all the points were tallied, three Hannibal students earned top 10 finishes. Brantley Greco came in second, Harper Prall placed sixth and Maisy Tibebu earned a ninth-place finish.

“We’d like to congratulate all of our creative and talented participants,” Simmons said.
