Two DMK students earn Showcased Author Awards through Echoes program
Dennis M. Kenney Middle School students recently tapped into their creativity to write unique poems, songs, stories and skits that were submitted into a statewide competition.
Through the Echoes program, brought to life by The Rev Theatre Co., students participate in a classroom workshop focusing on creative writing. Following the workshop, students write their own stories to submit into the competition. Dozens of original pieces are selected and weaved into a 50-minute production by actors from The Rev Theatre Co.
This year, two DMK students earned special recognition for their submissions as Giada Westcott and Abby Abrams earned the Showcased Author Award. Their pieces were selected as part of the 50-minute performance.
“These young ladies were selected out of thousands of students,” said DMK Principal Khrystie Allen. “We are so proud of them and of all the students who submitted entries. These pieces showcased incredible student talent and creativity, and we could not be prouder.”
