New Things in the Resource Room

The soon to be newest addition to the resource room will be the Kurzweil 3000.  This is a software program that is truly amazing!  It has been in existence since 1996.  It has become a major help to students with learning disabilities.  It is especially helpful for students with difficulties in reading and writing.  This software will take any typed text, highlight it word for word and then read it aloud to the student!  We are able to scan readings from texts, newspapers and magazines.  This software also is able to read directly from the Internet.  It also has a word processing component.  Students will be able to type their essays or term papers and have it read back to them by the computer.  Students can highlight sections of readings and turn them into notes for themselves.  The software has a dictionary and thesaurus component too. We can scan tests and have the students take them at their own pace. Students will be able to type their answers directly onto the image of the scanned test.
