EarthCache
The most exciting way to learn
about the Earth and its processes is to get into the outdoors
and experience it first-hand. Visiting an EarthCache site is a
great outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. An
EarthCache site is a special place that people can visit to
learn about a unique geoscience feature or aspect of our Earth.
Visitors to EarthCache sites can see how our planet has been
shaped by geological processes, how we manage the resources and
how scientists gather evidence to learn about the Earth.
My Wonderful World
Geography is more than places on
a map. It's global connections. People and cultures. Economics
and environments. My Wonderful World is a National
Geographic-led campaign—backed by a
coalition of national business and non-profit organizations—to
expand geographic learning in school, at home, and in
communities. We want to give kids the power of global
knowledge.

Earth Pulse
A Visual Guide to Global
Trends Earth Pulse explores global connections
with vivid and informative imagery, maps, diagrams, and
interactives that illuminate where we are today, how we got
here, and how our actions may affect the future of life on
Earth. Modern humans relate to our planet and to one
another in ways that may seem simple on the surface, but when
examined carefully, can be mind-bogglingly complex. Turn on a
light switch, place a phone call, eat a meal and you tap into a
vast network of actions and consequences that connect us to the
Earth and to other humans in ways both beneficial and
detrimental.

eSchool News Articles on GIS in Education and Administration
"Geospatial"
technologies--which include geographic information system (GIS),
global positioning system (GPS), and remote sensing (RS)
tools--are becoming increasingly important in our everyday
lives. These technologies use "smart" maps that can display,
query, and analyze geographic databases; receivers that provide
location and navigation; and global-to-local imagery and tools
that provide context and analysis.
As these tools become vital to helping community
leaders ask and answer questions with both local and global
implications, the ability to think spatially is an increasingly
important skill for students. Hundreds of jobs--in such areas as
planning, law enforcement, environmental management, business,
public safety, health, and agriculture--now require key
geographic inquiry skills.
