First-ever districtwide art show draws a crowd

Hundreds of pieces of work, from kindergarten through 12th grade, filled the hallways of Hannibal High School and the gymnasium was transformed into an art gallery, as the school celebrated its first districtwide art show.

Students showed a variety of works to their parents, siblings and friends as they strolled from one end of the school to the other. All different types of media were on display for spectators to enjoy, including self-portraits, 3D projects, photographs, sculptures, mixed-media and more to showcase the talent and creativity of Hannibal Central School District students.

The evening’s entertainment also included students performing live wheel throwing demonstrations. A captivated audience had the unique opportunity to watch a formless lump of clay being transformed, as if by magic, into a beautiful piece of art. Some artists were even on hand to create live paintings and drawings.
This was the first districtwide event of its kind and staff plan to make the art show an annual event each spring.
