4th graders learn about science

The world’s newest scientists spent a day exploring nature, ecosystems and living things – and they learned it all at Fairley Elementary School.
In working through their science curriculum, the fourth-graders recently visited Camp Hollis in Oswego where they learned about layers of rocks while on the shore of Lake Ontario, nature shapes during a walk through the woods, bird migration though a reader’s theater, layers of pond water and much more. Than hands-on learning experience was step one to their scientific process. Upon returning to class they created a picture with their nature shapes and logged information into their journals.
The fourth-grade teachers said the real-world applications to their lessons will help students better understand the academic unit.
