State Education Department Updates
The purpose of this page is to keep parents informed about new regulations coming down from the SED (State Education Department) in relation to students with disabilities.
* It has been determined that if a student has a testing modification on their IEP and is not utilizing it during the school year then it is the responsibility of the Committee of Special Education to remove those modifications during the student's annual review. Please encourage your child to use their accommodations so they will not be lost.
* The "safety net" for students with disabilities has been extended for five more years thereby allowing students who can't pass the state Regents tests to take the Regents Competency Tests instead. These include tests for reading & writing, math, science, global studies, and US history & government.
