Learning how technology affect people and the environment

Goal: Understanding the positive and negative impacts of technology while instilling the perception that people must assume the responsibility for adapting technology to the environment and to the human user.  New York State Standards - Impacts of Technology

Activities: 

1. Introductory Lesson: The Lorax
2. Student will explore energy technology looking at the positive and negative aspects of energy on people and the environment.
     a. Construct a turbine and motor/generator
     b. Construct energy in a can project that explores the
         concepts of potential and kinetic energy 
3. Student will research an energy technology an complete a report on their findings
